On Saturday 1st July, Bloodhound had their first official Author Event. It was held at Camino's in Kings Cross. Which is a restaurant/bar and we had a side room offset from the bar. This was a great setting with a vibe already present before opening the doors to the Bloodhound Gang.
There was such an informal feel, and as author's, readers and supporters came along the tension set it in for the reads. The author's were there helping each other with nerves.
Fred started the Official event thanking everyone and we raised a toast to the lovely Helen Cadbury, who had passed away on Friday. I had met her a few times and she was such a fun person, who will be truly missed.
There were readings by
Tara Lyons, Oliver Tidy, Malcolm Hollingdrake, Peter Best, Tony Forder, Rob Sinclair, Jane E James, Ross Greenwood, David Evans, and a preview read from Gail Williams from her forthcoming novel.
All the author's did amazingly well, I wouldn't want to be there reading from anything, let alone my own work! So A huge well done to you all.
All the books read from and more were then kindly donated to Sumaira Wilson, our Publishing Assistant to be auctioned at an event later in July, where the money is going towards water safety in memory of her friend's son Rob.
The suspense grew and the night became darker after all the readings, then the party got in full swing, but before we finished formally for the night, we hadn't forgotten Sarah Hardy, our publicist who couldn't make it as she was celebrating her birthday and wedding anniversary.
We had a quick get together and rendition of Happy Birthday sent to her live! isn't she lucky.
The food, drink and merriment continued to flow, and the beginnings of the after party began, including some dancing! On the way to the bar.
A huge thank you to all that took part in organising, Author's for reading, and for those that attended, it truly was brilliant.
