I really got sucked in to the storylines straight away and was battling with myself to work out what was going on, the threads of the stories are interwoven, but at times it takes a while to work out how.
Lynes writes with beautiful prose and I enjoyed reading the story from the points of view of Toni who wants to keep her child safe, and Rosie who wants to have more freedom, and how the world has in some ways changed with danger, but it has always been there through the decades. It is now a different threat.
These issues were sent to us in clear messages with the modern text speak and ways that however careful you tell your children to be, there are ways round them to hide social media from you.
A parent of teens, I know how relevant this is.
I found The Pact to be a page turning read, with the ideas well formed, with a sense of dread for all involved.
A twisty, suspenseful novel that made me stay up late to finish and found the characters were well described and played their parts extremely well to give a thoughtful read when you had finished.
