After reading Birdman, I decided to go straight into reading The Treatment, The follow on in the Caffery series.
Depending on the book it is sometimes worth reading a follow on straight after, I feel that I definitely benefited from doing this.
The Treatment is yet again an intensive read, where a family is tortured in their own home,
Caffrey is on this difficult case, as well as working out his relationship with Rebecca and it's progression after book 1. We are unsure if it can or will survive, as are they.
I was drawn in to this book as Mo again doesn't shy away from extreme brutal crimes. This is a difficult book to read, due to the crimes. It is so cleverly plotted with some amazing characters, and trying to work out who they are and how it all fits Is a conundrum, I didn't work it out.
This book is harrowing, with some heart in the mouth moments. The battle continuing within Caffery could be his self destruct button.
The Treatment is an intense, clever read, which I highly recommend. I would suggest reading book 1 The Birdman first to get the full on effect from some elements in this book.
This has been made into a film, and I would be interested to watch the adaptation.
