This is such a crime thriller action book, We are introduced to Ben, with his children playing in a park.
The ideal dad, hardworking family man, or is he? Ben’s wife was murdered in their home, in their bed a few years previously.
At the time he was having an affair with Gemma, who later became his wife.
A complicated start of events, we follow Ben through the next few weeks and where his life turns from complicated to downright, WTF! How, decisions however slight have a whole effect on what happens next.
He is caught up with O’Brady, and his gang, things escalate from bad to worse extremely quickly.
Ben’s twin sister Dani, arrives on the scene after being estranged for a few years, they haven’t spoken since the death of Ben’s wife Alice, whom she was good friends with.
Most of the chapters are told from Ben’s point of view, and how his life is spiralling out of control.
With chapters interspersed with him talking to someone, being interviewed, but all the way through you are unsure if this is the police, solicitor or a counsellor.
This is a great action packed, suspense and thriller of a story, with characters you are unsure whether to like, dislike, or be swayed back and forth.
Ben is a great character to read, you go from empathy, to take some control, to what now! He isn't always an easy character to like, which works so well and makes this a compelling read.
Rob's writing style is sublime, and you really are taken through Ben’s day to day life, turmoil and towards the end hurtle along with him to what… a great page turner.
This is the first book I have read by Rob Sinclair, and I will definitely be reading his series.
Highly recommend if you like thrillers with a twisty side.
