What a story, I have just finished this book. Reading it in a day and a half, I just couldn't stop reading it.
Barbara has written a fairytale crime novel at it's best. It is chilling, creepy and downright sadistic. However within this is woven so many tales.
Adam's history of how he turned to his beloved Grandmother for salvation and in her own way how she nurtured the beast inside him.
Adam is a quiet boy, we meet him at four years old, the chapters alternate between his growing up and who he has turned in to. The story of Adam is complex and you do see the story from his point of view.
The characters are well maintained, read so well and you are compelled to feel.
Flowers for the dead is a book that will stay with me for a long time, and I shall be recommending. How you can care for a psychotic killer and be haunted by him as well as wishing him ill.
Laura has her own story to tell about why she is the way she is, can she be saved? Is she going to be a victim or heroin?
Can Mike work this out in time? Is Adam a lover or stalker?
Can you read this story, without falling a little bit in love with the idea of Adam, without the stalking issues?
Read this book!
