This is the third in the series of the Wakefield Series, and would work as a stand alone, although you would benefit from reading the previous two books.
A great opening plotline, that leads into so many questions, conundrums and dilemmas for both D.I. Colin Strong, and Bob Souter - head newspaper reporter, their friends and family.
There are various storyline threads running through the novel, tying together superbly at the end, but intriguing all the way through the book.
Which turned out to be an extremely gripping and tense read. Nearer the end of the book I did not want to read on about one particular storyline, and there were some real heart in the mouth tense moments. With emotions running high.
I am unsure if this is set up as a trilogy, or a series. There is plenty more mileage from the point of view of Strong and Souter, where friendship was definitely tested. And I could easily read more.
