This is the follow on book to THE FORGOTTEN, you can read Innocent Blood as a stand alone, but I do feel you benefit from reading the first book. The characters are so wonderfully given to us, that you would be missing out.
In Innocent Blood we are taken to the Reservation, and this is where the majority of the story is set. I loved this, the description and detail were superbly written. I felt the Reservation come alive and found myself caught in the magical tension that the book portrayed.
There is a great balance of suspense, fear given and the background of the characters Loki and her family are a family that you would like in your life. They look out for each other, have their issues, but generally they want the best for each other.
I enjoyed The Forgotten and was looking forward to the follow up, and this has surpassed what I expected, It isn't a genre that I would usually read, but Linda has brought to life such amazing characters, with interesting backgrounds, and managed to keep in the tension and grit that is required in crime suspense.
I was immersed in the pages, and found it difficult to put this book down without wanting to be drawn back in straight away.
Linda S. Prather is the NY Times and USA Today Bestselling author of 8 novels including two legal thrillers, a paranormal FBI series, one romance, and her current series involving Loki Redmond, a Choctaw private investigator and Jake Savior, a former police officer. Linda lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband and grandchild, along with the "king" of the house, a Shitzu name Popcorn. Her latest release, Innocent Blood is her second in the Loki Redmond/Jake Savior series. In Linda's own words: "This book is my favorite so far. My grandfather was a full-blooded Native American, and my mother half Native American. Prior to my marriage and children I studied Shamanism and developed a true love for nature. Studying the Choctaw history, customs, myths and religions was fascinating. Taking the facts I learned and weaving them into Loki's story and her investigation into the disappearance of two hunters on the reservation was an emotional roller coaster for me. I found myself crying quite often."
