Cyril is back and slightly broken after the events of the last book Game Point, which left me reeling too. I would suggest reading these books in order to fulfil the full potential of the growth of friendship between Bennett and Owen.
Bennett and Owen are there brilliant selves and I soon settled in to reading this latest edition.
Uncovering the seedier side of the art world was an interesting read. I was drawn in ( no pun...ok maybe a tiny one)to the plots of conspiracy.
They really are a dynamic duo and work together so well, it was great fun to be back alongside with them and working out what was going on, this is another fantastic idea for a storyline that kept me guessing all the way through.
Malcolm gives us an intitriguing and mysterious read within the layers of the crime and how the murders are committed.
He is masterful in the art of keeping the suspence while reading and deliving in to the facts to keep the reader entertained and educated throughtout whilst weaving the plotlines to a conclusion.
Another strong read from Malcolm and highly recommend this series to all crime reader lovers and those liking there reads multi layered, intelligent, but with humanity, humour and sarcasm...
You could say that the writing was clearly written on the wall for anyone born in a library that they might aspire to be an author but to get to that point Malcolm Hollingdrake has travelled a circuitous route.
Malcolm worked in education for many years, even teaching for a period in Cairo before he started writing, a challenge he had longed to tackle for more years than he cares to remember.
Malcolm has written a number of successful short stories and has four books now available. Presently he is concentrating on a series of crime novels set in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Born in Bradford and spending three years in Ripon, Malcolm has never lost his love for his home county, a passion that is reflected in the settings for all three novels.
Malcolm has enjoyed many hobbies including collecting works by Northern artists; the art auctions offer a degree of excitement when both buying and certainly when selling. It’s a hobby he has bestowed on DCI Cyril Bennett, the main character in his latest novel.
