Linda has written a story that has great atmosphere, and the setting is perfect, I had a real connection with Loki's grandfathers farmhouse and surrounding area.
Loki uses her skills as a "Choctaw Indian" and uses her sense of spirit to help guide her when Jake comes across a body of a teenage mum.
The suspense was well paced and I was extremely interested in Loki's character. Although she is very determined and strong, she wasn't made to be too brittle. Her upbringing and "Choctaw" insights brought a paranormal element to the book, but this was an extremely believable side to her character.
Turning into her inner self was such interesting reading.
Throw in Jake, being pragmatic and there skills were off set well.
A very clever story within a great setting. Linda encapsulates this so well. It was very difficult to put this book down once started, this is an offset series from Linda's Jenna James books, but can easily be read as a standalone.
I am looking forward to reading more from these characters.
