Written in a gothic style, definitely not one of my usual reads. The cover was to "buy" for. So I did judge this book by its cover.
The way Donna has written this tale is pure magic and the way the words were weaved together, I had to read it in stages.
Once I got used to this I powered thorough the rest of the book. There is much humour, and sadness, and a feeling of dread....
The characters are well developed and you get a sense of mischievousness, fun and adventure.
If any criticism, it would have helped to have had a map, and maybe a short explanation/drawing of the character's at the end or beginning of the book.
I think this book would work extremely well as an audio book, and a series/film.
Due to the vivid way that Donna has manipulated the English Language. I found myself being drawn in and meddled with.
Hats off to an author who isn't shy to put her work out there and conform to the rules!
Take your time and read.
